I am sometimes asked to do permaculture designs for other people. I don’t dislike this process – actually it is quite fun – but I would always advise these potential clients to do a PDC and create a design for themselves instead. Nobody can know your land, your situation and yourself the way you do, and therefore it is you that can come up with the best design. And because a design is yours, you will feel able to change and adapt it as you learn more, find new inspiration, or situations change. A design should never be static or unchanging!
So I do not create designs for clients – instead, I offer a mentoring service that can be tailored to your particular needs. This may include: looking over your design and offering my advice (I realise that design can be a daunting process for beginners!); walk-and-talk consultancies where I come to your land or business and discuss ideas and possibilities; ongoing advice on establishing and managing a permaculture project, and the lifestyle changes that necessarily go with it. Designing how to live your life is just as important as how you are planning to arrange things on your land.
Another mentoring and consultation service I offer is in Accredited Permaculture Training (APT) for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and qualified APT tutors. I can advise on course plans, delivery and documentation, as well as provide assessment and other material to help initiate, deliver and assess a range of APT courses.
